Abstract
PERIES, Lucas; BARRAUD, Silvina and KESMAN, Cecilia. The characterization of landscape components in townscape catalogues. Estoa [online]. 2021, vol.10, n.19, pp.138-160. ISSN 1390-9274. https://doi.org/10.18537/est.v010.n019.a08.
Landscape characterization implies a description of the distinctive features that qualify and connote a given landscape. The determination of the character is part of the methodology for the construction of "Townscape Catalogs", as a particular phase. These catalogs are developed as studies of urban areas to guide planning processes, with a landscape approach and about sustainable development. This paper raises the general notion of landscape character and the synthesis of the methodology of construction of the catalogs. From this framework, the characterization phase is deepened and developed, as a center of attention. The techniques, tools and procedures generated for the registration, processing, analysis and evaluation of the information that constitute the characterization of a townscapes are exposed. The work is based on the basic and applied research itself, from the original production and the support in external antecedents. The content that is developed has potential for its application in other studies or project exercises of urban and architectural design.
