Abstract

PORTA, Luis  and  FLORES, Graciela. Teaching and Philosophy. Experience and challenge from the perspective of memorable university faculty. Sophia [online]. 2017, n.22, pp.257-278. ISSN 1390-8626.  https://doi.org/10.17163/soph.n22.2017.11.

The present work is part of the production of the Research Group on Education and Cultural Studies of the National University of Mar del Plata, which for fifteen years has generated an important work dynamic that recognizes in the New Agenda for Didactics and the Critical Perspective Of the teaching with emphasis in the biographical-narrative investigation the axis of his research work. This work explores the perspectives of two memorable university professors in regard to the teaching of philosophy at Mar del Plata State University, Argentina. Such professors have been signaled by their students as examples of good teaching. Rooted in their experience, we hope their narratives may contribute to the revision, resignification, questioning and revitalization of our own understanding of teaching. We intend to illustrate their ways of addressing Philosophy on the basis of treating such discipline in terms of experience and challenge. Such ethical and political stance implies a particular existential commitment that privileges the affective bond and reveals an intellectual and emotional involvement with the students, whose stories are also considered in an attempt to build a polyphonic approach. These voices are condensed from the use of a variety of instruments: biographical interviews, ethnographic registers, focus groups, student surveys and focus groups to members of the chair of which memorable teachers are part.

Keywords : Teaching; Philosophy; existential commitment; affective bond.
