Abstract

AGUILAR, Yasmany; CALDAS, Ismael; RIVERA, Andrés  and  TAPIA, Erik. STUDY OF INFLUENCE OF THE OPENING OF THE WINDOWS AND THE SPEED OF CIRCULATION IN THE AERODYNAMICS OF A VEHICLE TOURISM. Ingenius [online]. 2017, n.18, pp.7-13. ISSN 1390-860X.  https://doi.org/10.17163/ings.n18.2017.01.

This article presents the aerodynamic study of a tourism vehicle, taking as a case study the Chevrolet Forsa 1.3, in which road tests are performed to obtain values of the aerodynamic coefficient (Cx) and the coefficient of friction (Fr) in different opening positions of the windows and various Vehicle speeds. In order to corroborate the information obtained in the tests on which it is based to calculate the Cx, a modeling of the vehicle to be used in SolidWorks® is carried out, with the intention of carrying out a simulation that allows to obtain the values of the Cx when the windows are in different positions and at a specific speed. In addition an experimental design is realized in Minitab®, which allows to know the incidence that has a variable either of opening of the windows or speed of the vehicle on the Cx and Fr. The results show that the value of Cx increases as the windows of the vehicle are opened when traveling at speeds in excess of 90 km/h, which means more resistance to progress and therefore an increase in fuel consumption and pollutant emissions.

Keywords : Aerodynamic coefficient; fuel consumption; pollutant emissions; experimental design.
