At the end of 2019, due to the presence of a new virus, was declared a global health emergency, which led to serious economic consequences. In Ecuador, the greatest impact of the pandemic was experienced in the month of April, where the economic effects were felt with unemployment, the decrease in economic activities and the rise in prices. The objective of this work is: To determine the incidence of the crisis by Covid - 19 in the increase in the price of the products that make up the basic basket of Ecuador. The methodology used is descriptive and documentary. The results mention that, due to speculation and restrictions, the prices of the items that make up the basic basket increased their prices, making it increasingly difficult to acquire them, due to the increase in unemployment that translates into a lack of income for the families.
