Infection by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome in advanced phase exacerbate morbidity in patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, worsening the prognosis of life. The objective of the study was to analyze the causes of hospital morbidity of patients with these pathologies, admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, from the period 2017 to 2019. The scope of the analysis is cross-sectional, retrospective. 140 digital medical records of admissions of patients with HIV/AIDS hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit during the study period were reviewed. Sociodemographic variables, personal pathological history, causes of morbidity and hospital stay were analyzed through statistical analysis using the SPSS version 22 program. It is concluded that most hospitalizations of immunocompromised patients with HIV infection have pulmonary infections as the greatest morbidity (36%) (pneumonias) followed by digestive infections (11%).
