Wage discrimination by gender is a phenomenon present at various levels, motivating the development of research that seeks to show the impact of social inequalities on people's quality of life. This study explores the wage gaps between men and women in Ecuador, through a descriptive analysis of data to show the existing inequality between the salary received by men and women in the Ecuadorian labor market between 2007 and 2019; the research methodology is applied, descriptive and documentary; relating the measures and actions taken by developed economies and the situation in Latin America to then enter into the analysis of internal factors in Ecuador. Currently it is evident that the gender wage gap has been reduced by about 46% with a difference of 52 USD on average. But despite the evident reduction, inequity is still perceived, so this paper proposes proposals that can reduce the threshold of income inequality in the labor market by gender.
