PADILLA VARGAS, Martha. Sustainability, letter of presentation of rural tourist development. RCTU [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.2, pp.8-14. ISSN 1390-7697. https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v6i2.433.
The work seeks to explore the concept of sustainability from what could be called a planetary emergency, where future generations will be harmed if today's humanity does not react in time and continues in its efforts to end resources, hence the scope of the study pursues the reflection on the sustainability of "Our Common Future". On the other hand, some milestones that have contributed to the development field, the summits made up to the creation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2000 and then to achieve broader goals with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals are addressed. (SDG) in 2015, and its relationship between three SDGs with rural tourism. Along with the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social and environmental, mention is made of a fourth: Culture, with which, a tour of the two Summits of Culture that have been made and with a view to a third carried out in this year, all of them based on the theme of sustainability. Among the main results we can mention that part of the actions aimed at achieving sustainable development has to do with technology and the fulfillment of goals of the three pillars and culture, in addition, the usefulness of indicators such as: ecological footprint, development index human and the environmental sustainability indicator. Finally, there is talk of a development: of the people, for the people and for the people, where the three pillars plus the culture should be conjugated in equal conditions, however, they still cannot be articulated in an integral way.
