Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the safeguard measures adopted by the Ecuadorian government and determine the degree of incidence in the country's trade balance that is, if it met its objective of restricting imports, protecting domestic production and regulating the external sector the economy. The government adopted these measures in 2015 through resolution of the current COMEX for 15 months because of the fall in the price of oil that affects the illiquidity, devaluations of the currency in the bordering countries and the appreciation of the dollar. In this work, methodological procedures of a descriptive nature and research techniques were applied that allowed the analysis of the results, which, while meeting the objectives, reflect the need of the government in its decisions, consider the requests of the private sector, with the purpose of minimize the impact of these measures on the different branches of the productive sector.
