Resumen

CLEMENTI, Luciana-Vanesa  y  JACINTO, Guillermina-Paula. Distributed Wind Power: Opportunities and Challenges in Argentina. Letras Verdes [online]. 2021, n.29, pp.48-64. ISSN 1390-6631.  https://doi.org/10.17141/letrasverdes.29.2021.4590.

With the energy transition, the inclusion of renewable sources in energy production and supply models is growing. Experiences that revalue local resources configure distributed power generation schemes from low-power wind systems. A range of small-scale initiatives that seek to meet local needs, shows multiple transformation processes involving the use of wind potential and new roles of stakeholders involved in energy management. This work explores the initiatives around low-power wind systems in Argentina, which seek to expand the participation of the wind resource in electricity supply. Through secondary sources and semi-structured interviews with key informants, multidimensional opportunities and challenges presented to the advancement of low-power wind projects are identified, seeking to move towards more sustainable and decentralized energy models. In Argentina, low-power wind power represents an alternative, which has high investment costs and whose facilities are still limited, but with a broad potential for local scientific-technological capabilities and for its suitability to provide energy solutions adapted to local needs.

Palabras clave : Argentina; distributed generation, low-power wind systems; opportunities; challenges.
