Abstract

ESPINOZA-QUISPE,, Carlos-Enrique; MARRERO-SAUCEDO, Freddy-Martin  and  HINOJOSA-BENAVIDES, René-Antonio. Solid Waste Management in the County of Huancavelica, Peru. Letras Verdes [online]. 2020, n.28, pp.163-177. ISSN 1390-6631.  https://doi.org/10.1711/letrasverdes.28.2020.4269.

The present study aimed to identify the relationship between the management of household solid waste (HSW) and non-household solid waste (NHSW) (variable X) in the county of Huancavelica and the municipal management (variable Y), in 2016. The population and sample were 12 249 and 140 inhabitants, respectively. A simple random sampling is used, as well as data collected with questionnaires, using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov contrast for hypothesis tests, where the degree of correlation between X and Y is 0.589, which indicates a moderately partial dependency between both variables. Between the dimension of collection and recovery of HSW and NHSW and the municipal management of Huancavelica, there is a degree of correlation of 0.570, which indicates a significant, direct and median relationship. Between the dimension of treatment of HSW and NHSW and the municipal management, there is a correlation of 0.590, which indicates a statistically significant, direct and moderate relationship. Between the dimension of the final disposition of HSW and NHSW and the municipal management, there is a correlation of 0.610, which indicates a moderately partial dependence. The study finds that solid waste management has a statistically significant, direct and moderate relationship with the municipal management of Huancavelica.
