Abstract

TORRES, Ana Cristina; NADOT, Sophie  and  (FRANCIA), Anne-Caroline Prevot. Exploring human-nature relationship: urban agriculture, sciences conservation and city. Letras Verdes [online]. 2016, n.19, pp.3-23. ISSN 1390-6631.  https://doi.org/10.17141/letrasverdes.19.2016.1948.

The mainstream trend in conservation science and urbanism intends to mitigate environmental damage by setting up suitable ethical basis to reflect about attitudes to conserve particular and well-perceived types of nature. By studying 9 community gardens in Paris, we show the limits of this human-nature interaction. Taking into account citizens’ subjectivities, we provide perspectives on how to nourish conservation science and to rethink about cities by encouraging reflections on the main global challenges of nature conservation.

Keywords : community gardens; nature conservation; human-nature relationship; urban.
