PALMA-DURAN, José-Abdón  e  RUIZ-CALLADO, Raúl. Discourses on Child-to-Parent Violence on the Social Network Twitter. URVIO [online]. 2023, n.35, pp.42-59. ISSN 1390-4299.  https://doi.org/10.17141/urvio.35.2023.5636.

Violence against parents by adolescent offspring, known in Spain as violencia filio-parental (VFP), has generated a great deal of interest during the last decade, which has led to an increase in research and public resources allocated to this criminological phenomenon. This paper analyses the discourse generated in the social network Twitter with the aim of identifying the most discussed topics and the actors with a greater public presence and influence on this type of violence. For this purpose, a corpus of 6146 tweets has been analyzed, which represents the total number of tweets that include the terms filio-parental, filioparental or filio-parental between 2009 and 2022. The data shows a prevailing activity linked to professional actions and a direct influence of traditional media to set the agenda of the discourse in the social network. This has been especially evident after the inclusion of content related to this type of violence in prime-time programs of a generalist private television in Spain, which has led to a quantitative and qualitative transformation of the discourse on Twitter about child-to-parent violence.

Palavras-chave : agenda setting; child-to-parent violence; family violence; juvenile violence; Twitter.
