This article aims to analyze the practices and experiences that build up gender relations and masculinities of criminally prosecuted youths in punitive facilities in Argentina during 2018 and 2019. Based on information gathered in two centers of deprivation of liberty located in the city of La Plata (province of Buenos Aires), the investigation uses a qualitative approach and primary sources (field journal of non-participant observation and interviews to prisoned youths and other key actors). Considering that there is an extended corpus of literature related to criminal sociology that explains the conditions of detentions of youths located in punitive facilities, this article intends to make a contribution to the analysis of the experience of imprisonment of the youths by highlighting the role that gender relations play in it.
