Abstract

DELGADO, Olga1  and  BARRERA, Jorge. Determinants of Cash Use in Latin America. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.2, pp.73-86. ISSN 2477-8990.  https://doi.org/10.33333/rp.vol51n2.07.

This document characterizes the use of cash in Latin America. We use the World Bank database, the Global Findex survey, to model the influence of various factors on the probability of the use of cash, through a binary regression model. The main finding is that the female population, with basic education, in conditions of poverty and unemployment, is more likely to use cash in their transactions, meaning that educational level, income level and formal employment influence the use of cash.

Keywords : Cash; Probit model; Global Findex.
