PALACIOS, Patricio  e  CELI, Carlos. Fragility Analysis of One of the Most Relevant Structural Typologies in Quito. TREQ-GEM.Project. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.2, pp.7-18. ISSN 2477-8990.  https://doi.org/10.33333/rp.vol51n2.01.

This research presents the results of nonlinear static analyses of different probable combinations for the vulnerability assessment of four to six story structures with an irregular plan shape with cast-in-place concrete slabs made up by masonry-filled frames. Theoretical capacity curves were obtained and tested to several seismic scenarios defined in the Ecuadorian Construction Code for return periods ranging from 25 to 475 years at 10-year intervals, with type C and D soil variations. The aim was not to determine the failure modes of the typology but the overall structural behavior, in order to use this information in the risk calculations of the Metropolitan District of Quito, based on the fragility curves generated. The fragility curves showed that for a control based on the maximum drift allowed by the Ecuadorian Construction Code of 2%, there were predominant probabilities of 95% of equaling or exceeding the full damage limit, so the aim is to raise awareness to government authorities of pre-seismic structural interventions, such as reinforcements or damage mitigation strategies.
