Abstract

MILTON, Sancán Lapo,  and  BORIS, Sancán Lapo,. Narrative, Video Game Mechanics and Animation as Interactive Strengths for Mobile Video Games. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.1, pp.7-18. ISSN 2477-8990.  https://doi.org/10.33333/rp.vol51.n1.01.

In the mobile video game context, bibliographical reviews were made of the concepts and relationships between game mechanics (interact to execute actions from achievement and restriction), animation (audiovisual behavior of its elements), and narrative (story and relationships between causes). It was found that adding narrative to mechanics and animation would provide more creative challenges from player inputs. Based on the reviewed bibliography, a template of 21 variables classified within four categories is provided for the analysis and creation of the structure of a video game through concepts of interactive narrative, mechanics, and animation.

Keywords : innovation; technological development; digital entertainment.
