Abstract
GUILLERMO, Arriola, et al. Assessment of Climatic Aggressiveness and Precipitation Concentration in the Chancay-Lambayeque Basin, Peru. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2022, vol.50, n.2, pp.15-22. ISSN 2477-8990.
Abstract: The behavior of precipitations in northern Peru is characterized by having rains with few rainy months and many dry months, which is why there is a need to address the study of the regularity of rains in this area of the country for forecasting and prevention purposes. The objective of this research was to evaluate the climatic aggressiveness and precipitation concentration using Fournier (IF), modified Fournier (IFM), modified Fournier-Maule (IFMM) and precipitation concentration (ICP) index, since these parameters allow estimating the aggressiveness and pluvial concentration using monthly and annual precipitations with correlations with respect to altitude and mean precipitation, which for this case pluviometric records from meteorological stations of the Chancay-Lambayeque basin located in northern Peru were used grouped by their regional vector. The results indicate a good correlation between altitude and mean precipitation (R2 = 0,69), in addition climatic aggressiveness index that shows the best performance is IFMM with respect to altitude (R2 = 0,62) and mean precipitation (R2 = 0,87), ICP also indicates good correlations in terms of altitude (R2 = 0,69) and media precipitation (R2 = 0,62). Consequently, the research findings show that IFMM and ICP are the best estimators for the studied basin as they explain its variable climatic aggressiveness and seasonal behavior according to precipitations concentration.
