SUNTAXI, Carlos; MONAR, Willan; MAIGUA, Christian  e  VELASTEGUI, Santiago. Application of the Incremental Deformation Process in forming of Aluminum Sheet 1200 H14. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2019, vol.44, n.1, pp.15-20. ISSN 2477-8990.  https://doi.org/10.33333/rp.vol44n1.02.

This article describes the manufacturing process of 1200 H14 aluminum sheet parts by the incremental forming method. In a first part, a simulation by finite elements of plastic deformation was carried out to generate a truncated cone-shaped surface from a flat and square plate in order to estimate the maximum forces in the process. The values found were increased to have a margin of safety in the dimensioning and analysis of stresses induced in the tools required in the process, which were subsequently manufactured. Based on established 3D geometries, the coordinates that define the contours by levels of the surface to be formed on the metal were programmed. These values were coded and transferred to a machining center. For the experimentation, several tests were carried out on 1 mm thick aluminum sheets using the same simulation parameters. The parameters of speed, depth, wall angle and rotation of the tool were set. The force was measured in real time in the normal direction to the plane of the surface of the sheet with a load cell and its variation according to the size and rotation of the tool. It was found that the main forming force is far below the cutting capabilities of a machining center, the surface finish and formability improve as the tool diameter increases to a certain limit, the tool rotation decreases the required force and the material is appropriate to be formed by this process
