VASQUEZ, Sandra  e  VILLACIS, William. Implementation of a Radiological Protection Program in laboratories that use ionizing radiation equipment and sources and in the Dental Radiodiagnosis Service of the Escuela Politécnica Nacional. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2019, vol.43, n.1, pp.51-60. ISSN 2477-8990.

The present work describes the implementation of a radiological protection program in the laboratories that use equipment and source of ionizing radiation. The regularization process initiated in each area was known, and information was prepared and collected in a checklist of legal compliance with the current permits for both the POE and the study area. Occupational exposure in each area was achieved with the reports of personal dosimetry of the POE and compared with the allowable limits. The measurement of environmental dosimetry was performed with a Geiger Müller detector, in the area of influence of each study area. The information was then constructed and lifted in a checklist based on the findings established in the inspection reports made by SCAN according to the current safety regulations. A list of common problems was developed and prioritized with the Pareto method, where immediate prevention and control measures were proposed and implemented for immediate ionizing radiation exposure for 80% of total noncompliance. With the use of manuals, procedures and records, 75% of the operating licenses for the study areas were obtained and 25% corresponds to the Laboratory of Mineralogical Analysis and X-Ray Diffraction, which approved the inspection process carried out by SCAN and requested the issuance of the operating license to the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in the second quarter of 2016.
