AGUILAR-JARAMILLO, Edwin e AGUINAGA, Álvaro. Modeling and Simulation of Hydrogen Production in an Electrolyzer from Superheated Water Vapor. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2018, vol.41, n.2, pp.37-52. ISSN 2477-8990.
The research presents an electrical model equivalent of a simple electrolytic cell, used for the production of hydrogen from overheated water steam, in order to provide a theoretical basis that can be applied when choosing or designing equipment for electrolysis systems of this type. To do that, will be carried out the component study of electrolyzer, laws and equations governing the behavior of the system; the variables that affect the production of hydrogen as well as the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, this last one useful for mathematically interpret the phenomena that occur in the process of electrolysis. The implementation and simulation of the analog model, of the equivalent electric circuit (EEC) of the electrolytic cell, using the characteristics of a YSZ electrolyte, LSM anode and a Ni-YSZ cathode, allowed to conclude that optimal results in the hydrogen production can be obtained to greater area of the electrolyte and smaller spacing between electrodes, working with an excitation signal of pulses at resonance frequency and a high overheated water steam temperatures.
