The adequate analysis in the expansion of generation for a country that allows knowing the level of security for the supply of electrical energy, and that is guaranteed the supply of consumption for the different activities required by society. The development of the electrical matrix is based on the accessibility to the different sources for the purpose of electricity production that it is provided, there is an adequate level of availability of the generation technology considered in the planning expansion of generator park. However, any country there are political, economic and environmental moments, which tacitly determine level of energy security that is not explicitly determined in planning, and in practice is analyzed considering technical dimension in general. As supply is a cross-cutting issue, it is necessary to take into account the different edges of the expansion.

The present work an analysis is shown for 2011-2015 through evolution of electro-energy indicators for the National Interconnected System (SNI) of Ecuador considering different available sources of electricity production and consumption. Through a suitably selected set of indicators that are a function of expansion and operation different generation resources; which, suitably structured and graphically arranged, determine the robustness of an electrical system, its adaptability to environmental variations. This graphic layout of percentage value of each indicator on an axis is known as the tool called " Rose of robustness "; where each indicator can be considered and must be obtained in based on information available in official documents of institutions the energy sector.
