Abstract
REYES, Viviana; CARRANZA, Oscar; RODRIGUEZ, Jaime and ORTEGA, Ruben. Comparative Study of the Performance of Wind Turbines in relation to both Power and Torque Coefficients. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2018, vol.41, n.1, pp.7-16. ISSN 2477-8990.
This paper presents a comparative study of the performance of wind turbines in relation to both power and torque coefficients, through of a mathematical model that defines the behavior of each turbine. The study establishes that the power and torque of a wind turbine depends on the type of turbine and its characteristics, reflected in both power and torque coefficients. The coefficient of torque is dependent on the power coefficient, so the latter is considered as basic in this study. Of all the power coefficients found, it is determined that there are three basic mathematical models (polynomial, sinusoidal or exponential). With this information, a comparative study of the turbine power and the turbine shaft torque is carried out for each of the cases. The study is performed analytically and it is corroborated by simulation tests. The purpose of this analysis is to establish some considerations to evaluate the different models of wind turbines to facilitate the construction of an emulator of an aerogenerator, according to the behavior both of power as shaft torque of the wind turbine.
