Abstract

MOROCHO, Manuel; VILLANUEVA, Rubén  and  SORIANO, Guillermo. Analysis of Temperature Measurements in Non-Disturbed Soil in Guayaquil - Ecuador. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2017, vol.40, n.1, pp.53-58. ISSN 2477-8990.

In this article the results of undisturbed soil temperature measurements at Guayaquil, Ecuador; a measurement analysis, and their use for future applications are shown. The measurements were done through two different methods to identify suitable technology and methodology for obtaining soil temperature for its use in thermal response tests and borehole heat exchangers design. The methods, which are described in detail in the second Section of this article, consisted in using GeoCubeTM and the temperature datalogger MicroTemp for obtaining undisturbed soil temperature measurements, considering datalogger can measure individual soil temperature values along all the heat exchanger. With these devices, for perforations located in Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, the Universidad de Guayaquil and the Centro Cívico de Guayaquil, soil temperature distribution and average soil temperature values of 26,5±0,2% °C, 28±0,2% °C and 29±0,2% ºC were obtained for GeoCubeTM and 26,8±0,3% ºC, 28,3±0,4% ºC and 29.9±0,3% ºC values were obtained for the MicroTemp. With these results, the soil temperature measurements were validated for its use in soil heat dissipation systems design and it was decided to do monthly soil temperature measurements along all one year as these soil temperature values could be used for design applications.

Keywords : Borehole heat exchanger; datalogger; GeoCubeTM; MicroTemp; soil average temperature without disturbing; thermal response test.
