CASTILLO, Jairo; ROJAS, Vicente  y  MARTINEZ, Jorge. Determination of Torque and Power of a Gasoline Internal Combustion Engine by Using Spark with Pressure Sensor Adapted and Application of a Mathematical Model. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2017, vol.39, n.1, pp.49-57. ISSN 2477-8990.

This investigation aims to determine through an alternative way the torque and power of a spark ignition engine. At first, the signals of three different vehicles, which are the best-selling cars in our country, were acquired and processed by developing several test in the dynamometer bench by using the protocol based on the INEM 960 norm, the use of the DAQ USB 6008 electronic card and the programming in the Labview Software. Subsequently, a statistical analysis is performed using the Minitab software in order to determine that the cylinder capacity, the vehicle speed and signal power are highly significant variables, which represent a direct incidence on the calculation. In the results, there were obtained two equations that govern the behavior of the torque and power for vehicles with a cylinder capacity of 1,4 to 2,4 liters. In addition, the maximum load diagrams of torque and power regarding the speed of the vehicle at different heights above sea level are presented. Finally, road test are performed at different driving conditions with the purpose of proving the veracity of the obtained results, which are also compared with the measured results in a dynamometer bench, obtaining a 92% confidence interval, which demonstrates that these ones do not exhibit a highly significant statistical difference.
