PAZMINO ARMIJOS, Katherine Mishelle  e  INCA RUIZ, Gerardo Patricio. Thak flower essences ́s anxiolitc efect in pacients with diabetes and hypertension. Perfiles [online]. 2022, vol.1, n.28, pp.21-28. ISSN 2477-9105.  https://doi.org/10.47187/perf.v1i28.174.

Arias, Valero and Tixi state that anxiety is a present symptom, a consequence of confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This work demonstrates the anxiolytic effect of THAK flower essences in patients with concomitant type II diabetes mellitus and arterial hypertension, two comorbidities that favor SARSCOV2 infection and the development of severe clinical pictures of COVID-19, with high mortality rates.

In this randomised, quantitative, single-blind study at the Health Center of the Municipality of Riobamba, 65 patients with hypertension and type II diabetes mellitus were identified, who gave their informed consent to participate in the research 35, who controlled their pathology with conventional medicine and without treatment for anxiety, evaluated through the State-Trait Anxiety Questionnaire, at the beginning and at the end of the study, randomly divided into two groups, some took placebo and others the THAK essence, for 30 days in a row.

The analysis of means showed a value p<0.05, which supports the effectiveness of the essences in this study to reduce anxiety. Integral therapy using flower essences is recommended to reduce anxiety, and as a complementary therapy for type II diabetes and hypertension, without interrupting pharmacological treatment.
