VEGA MEJIA, Rubén; DE PONTE DAVI, Gilliana  e  TINEO GUZMAN, Diego. Petroleum coke as dispersant in drilling fluids base water. RCTU [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.1, pp.97-104. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v6i1.460.

As a result of profound conversion process used in the General Petrochemical Complex Jose Antonio Anzoátegui- Venezuela, you are currently obtains a sub product called petroleum coke refining, which has been given little applicability in the country. Given this premise the use of petroleum coke was raised as a dispersant additive in drilling fluids water base. Thus a milling sieving and desulfurized petroleum coke time, its components met by Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), showing carboxyl groups, aliphatic, aromatic and coke. Then they made 4 types of drilling fluids varying concentrations of petroleum coke in 1.5; 2; 2.5; and 3 (g) for the change of rheological properties from a white fluid (no dispersant), a 50% reduction of properties such as quality criterion assumed, resulting in a reduction of 47.76% maximum by adding 2 g of coke. However, by the non-parametric Friedman statistical test, it was shown that there is no significant difference between the rheological properties obtained at this concentration (2 g) and obtained using commercial lignosulfonate as a dispersant. It concluded that petroleum coke can be considered an efficient dispersant.
