SOLANO-VERA, Yadira; CAREGUA-VILLEGAS, Carlos; DUQUE-MARIN, Richard  e  GONZALEZ- BANCHON, Tanya. Composition, abundance and distribution of Diatoms in two locations of the Guayas province between october 2013 and february 2014. RCTU [online]. 2018, vol.5, n.2, pp.52-59. The present work was developed in two localities of the province of Guayas between October 2013 and February 2014. The objective of this research was to compare the composition, abundance and distribution of central diatoms in the estuarine waters of the Posorja parish and in the canton General Villamil Beaches, which has oceanic influence. The surface trawls were made every two weeks on board with a boat with a motor of 75 HP at a speed of 2 knots, in a time of 5 minutes of travel by each station with the distance of 1 mile of the seashore. A total of 71 species were identified in which the Central Diatoms predominate with 60 species and 11 species of Diatoms Pennales, the species with the highest density recorded. Chaetoceros coarctatus, greater population density with 15576 cel. 100m3, corresponding to 12.80% in the two areas sampled from a total of 36 samples collected. The Shannon - Wiener index shows a similarity between stations. In Posorja there was irregularity in all the stations, coinciding with the Simpson index that registered that there is no similarity between stations. The abundance and distribution corresponds to 51% of the Diatoms of the Central order in Posorja, while 49% belongs to General Villamil.

Palavras-chave : distribution composition abundance central diatoms.
