PANTOJA REVELO, Rosa; ACOSTA NARANJO, Sandra Mariel y NAVARRETE VELOZ, Mirian Consuelo. Mucormicosis pulmonar no asociada a inmunodepresión en paciente pediátrico. Caso clínico. Rev Eug Esp [online]. 2023, vol.17, n.1, pp.98-107. ISSN 2661-6742. https://doi.org/10.37135/ee.04.16.10.
The case of a 10-year-old female patient who required admission two years earlier with a presumptive diagnosis of pneumonia is presented. The imaging examination at that time showed an image compatible with atelectasis and a mass in the upper lobe of the left lung, requiring evaluation in the surgery service, where a mass excision treatment was decided after overcoming the infectious condition. The pandemic situation due to COVID-19 caused the patient to stop attending, and when she was admitted again, she had an aggravated clinical picture. Surgical treatment proceeded with histopathological findings confirming the presence of pulmonary mucormycosis. After 14 days of treatment of amphotericin B in liposomal form, the patient is discharged due to favorable evolution.
