Interview held with the lawyer and human rights defender Carlos Ayala Corao who was President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Through this conversation we discuss the challenges and threats the Inter-American system of Human Rights must face by analyzing the development of the system and its constant problems bearing in mind past and actual issues. Moreover, we reflect about the state of democracy and the interaction with the human rights protection system in the continent and the challenges it might face in the future with special interest in the exercise of the right to freedom of press.
