This article constitutes an introductory study about the notion of economic dependence and the abuse of dominant position in situations of economic dependence; the regulatory tendencies on this subject, and the recent application of this concept in Ecuador, considering two decisions issued by the First Instance Resolution Commission of the Superintendencia de Control de Poder de Mercado in the cases MEGA SANTAMARÍA, TIA, CORPORACIÓN FAVORITA, and CORPORACIÓN EL ROSADO.
