Abstract
CEDENO ROMERO, Eva Lisbeth and MURILLO MOREIRA, José Atilio. Virtual learning environments and their innovative role in the teaching process. ReHuSo [online]. 2019, vol.4, n.1, pp.138-148. Epub Apr 30, 2019. ISSN 2550-6587. https://doi.org/10.33936/rehuso.v4i1.2156.
Virtual learning environments increasingly dominate the teaching process. The technological incursion has become a challenge for pedagogical models. This is why there is an urgent need for innovative strategies to encourage the development of skills that can foster students' critical and reflective capacity for basic knowledge in different areas. The advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and its impact on different social contexts has reached the educational branch. The creation of different virtual platforms, whatever the name you prefer to locate, can be defined as computer applications that seek to generate academic and pedagogical communication between a group of participants. The virtual environment can be complemented by the actual environment, it can also be a mixture or it can be managed exclusively. Throughout this text we can see the way in which this environment is not a copy of the traditional teaching context, but, on the contrary, constitutes an accessible virtual platform that offers content, activities, forums and the opportunity to create interactive groups with common goals. This text therefore analyses strategies and methodologies that optimize their potential and lead to meaningful learning.
