Abstract

CUESTA, Diana Arce  and  GORDILLO GORDILLO., Edgar. Socio-educational approach to promote entrepreneurship with vulnerable young: PACES Salesian Foundation case. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2023, vol.1, n.55, pp.237-253. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v1i55.2103.

The situation of vulnerability of young people in developing countries is a constant concern in socio-educational institutions. Supporting young people to get out of poverty, inadequate work and inequalities are part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Faced with this, entrepreneurship emerges as an alternative for human development. However, promoting it is a complex task, since there is limited research on how to adopt entrepreneurship processes in contexts of vulnerability. This research suggests that guidelines are necessary to guide human and sustainable development institutions in the design of promotion actions and policies. Therefore, the objective of the study was to identify elements to promote entrepreneurship in young people in vulnerable situations. Through qualitative research focused on a case study, this article presents a socio-educational approach to promote entrepreneurship. This investigation showed how the Fundación Salesiana PACES of Cuenca Ecuador puts this approach into practice. The approach illustrates dimensions of socio-educational intervention and how they can promote entrepreneurship. The results indicated that cultural aspects directly impact the success or failure of this. Therefore, institutions should focus on providing support beyond the technical elements.

Keywords : socio-educational approach; entrepreneurship; youths; vulnerability.
