Abstract

QUIMIS CHAVEZ, Jonathan Eugenio. Process of urban intervention after earthquake 16 A in the city of Portoviejo. Revista San Gregorio [online]. 2021, vol.1, n.48, pp.32-44. ISSN 2528-7907.  https://doi.org/10.36097/rsan.v0i48.1730.

The present study have aims to analyze the management model of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government of Portoviejo to verify the relevance of the actions implemented in the process of urban development of the city in the aftermath of the earthquake of April 16 of the year 2016 and identify the urban changes that the city has had taking as reference the guiding principles of the aforementioned model. To this end, a documentary review was carried out on the conceptualization of the principles of the management model of the Portoviejo canton, which are: Territorial, Economic, Social and Institutional, that contrast with the criteria that several authors have issued on these elements and with the changes observed in the city. Among the findings it is highlighted that the management model considers the social, economic and environmental aspects, which are the axes of sustainable urbanism. Finally, it is concluded that the management model applied in the city of Portoviejo has generated a sustainable urban reactivation and improved the living conditions and quality of life of the city.
