The legal institution of the living wage is conceptualized within Ecuadorian regulations as a rigid measure that is in accordance with the basic family basket. Its objective is the guarantee of the most fundamental labor rights, such as remuneration. Now, its establishment as a measure imposed as a minimum, can be used by certain companies that seek to create better organizational cultures with respect to their workers, so nothing prevents them from imposing compliance obligations that improve the working conditions of their employees; it is at that point where commercial companies in Collective Benefit and Interest could have an important role.
