Abstract
ORTIZ MARTINEZ, Erika Daniela. Apartheid, Social Documentary Photography in South Africa and how the photographer David Goldblatt approaches the Apartheid in his daily life scenes. Índex [online]. 2023, n.16, pp.9-21. ISSN 2477-9199. https://doi.org/10.26807/cav.v9i16.543.
South African photographer David Goldblatt developed a particular way to approach everyday life under the system of Apartheid, which ruled South Africa between 1948 and 1991. Two of Goldblatt’s daily life photographs are observed in this essay in which he distances himself from the “Struggle Photography” aesthetic. Thus, with an interaction between visibility/invisibility he shows the impact of this system interwoven in South African citizens daily life.
