Abstract

The Nordic countries have widely used aerated concrete, but in Ecuador, its use is not conventional, which has been a problem for its development in construction. The study’s objective was to provide knowledge about its growth in the country to widely expand its use, reviewing relevant research and reporting the existence of companies dedicated to producing this material. In this work, researchers from universities in the country and the authors’ experience have reviewed ten research cases on aerated concrete in recent years. As a result, different data was obtained for other applications. In conclusion, it is observed that aerated concrete has not had great diffusion, and studies on it are still in the developing stage. 40% of the studies were done at the University of the Peninsula of Santa Elena, and 60% of the cases comply with the standards.
