Abstract

ARBELAEZ CARTAGENOVA, Michael Alberto; SOTO MONTERO, Nicolas Alejandro  and  REMACHE, Álvaro Miguel. Design and data comparison by means of fluid dynamicsimulation in various inlet nozzlegeometries. RCTU [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.1, pp.41-52. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v10i1.702.

The production of several prototypes translates into higher costs at an inlet manifold’s design and optimization stage. This research aimed to improve the design and optimization of high-performance inlet nozzles while reducing costs. By analyzing fluid velocity data from dynamic simulations at different geometries, the researchers identified modifications that resulted in significant gains in minimum (up to 271%) and maximum speeds (up to 52%). The comparative method accurately characterized the results obtained from the theoretical modeling phase. Specifically, modifying the diameter of the nozzles versus their length was found to be an effective means of achieving these gains. These findings have important implications for the design of mechanical elements and could lead to future studies in the field.
