Abstract
WASHBRUM MOSQUERA, Paulo and CORNEJO SOTOMAYOR, Xavier. A comparative study of the floral characters of the genera of Capparaceae in Ecuador. RCTU [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.1, pp.1-9. ISSN 1390-7697. https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v10i1.722.
The morphological similarities and differences between the genera of the family Capparaceae in Ecuador need to be better understood. This work aimed to perform a comparative analysis of the floral characters of the 11 genera of Capparaceae in the country through the compilation of available scientific literature, a phenetic analysis, and grouping with the most relevant characteristics. Based on observations of botanical collections from the GUAY herbarium, images of living material, floral features, nationwide distribution patterns, and flowering records were described. The phenetic analysis showed máximum values between genders that shared similarities in characters such as; pubescence, calyx estivation, corolla, and the presence of hypanthium. The clustering analysis generated two cladograms that represent the formation of clades supported by the affinity of their characters.
