Abstract
REA YANEZ, Mercy Dalila; GUERRA SALAZAR, José E.; BARRAZUETA R, Sandra G. and MORALES GORDON, Jose L.. Treatment of knee injuries using a robot prototype controlled by mobile applications. RCTU [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.2, pp.12-26. ISSN 1390-7697. https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v8i2.576.
The electronic prototypes developed in recent times are being used in the field of medicine and physical rehabilitation under this premise, a treatment for knee injuries was developed by means of a robot prototype controlled by mobile applications, the design and construction was carried out in three stages: mechanical, electronic and software design. The mechanical structure was made through a transmission system by means of a power screw, ensuring the transformation of the rotary motion generated by a motor to a linear motion ensuring a displacement of 120° in flexion to 0° in extension necessary for rehabilitation. The second stage was powered from a 12V source, controlled by an Arduino MEGA 2560 which received the data sent by Bluetooth, from a rotary encoder and two limit switches. The third stage consisted of two modes of operation, a manual one that allows to vary the speed and the second one that executes pre-set routines controlled wirelessly at distances of up to 7.5m by means of a mobile application that has a local database that stores the patient's data. It was verified that the prototype in operation with and without patient presents an error angle of 2°, which according to experts does not affect the rehabilitation results of the patients, making it a reliable equipment in therapy processes.
