Abstract

REMACHE CHIMBO, Álvaro; LEGUISAMO MILLA, Julio; ANTAMBA GUASGUA, Jaime  and  AZANZA LUKSAT, Vladimir. Eco-Driving: Evaluation of the Operational Parameters of the Spark Engine (SI) in a Mixed Route of the City of Quito. RCTU [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.1, pp.18-24. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v8i1.552.

This study focuses on the analysis of the variation of the fuel consumption, torque and power engine parameters applying eco-driving compared to normal driving. The research that has been carried out is experimental, since it gathers data on a specific route in the Quito city, between Supermaxi (Cumbayá) on avenue Interoceánica S/N; and the Catholic University of Quito, on avenue 6 December and Jorge Washington. For the development of the measurements, a test route was selected and a database was compiled using the data from the OBD2 software with the OBD FUSION app. It was determined that eco-driving reduces fuel consumption and maintains an appropriate amplitude of variation between torque and power, engine since if these values are high, they incur higher fuel consumption, thus optimizing fuel costs. It maintains a saving percentage of 22 to 24.5%, this means that approximately $ 400 per year can be saved as long as driving 20,000 km per year in urban areas is taken as a reference.

Keywords : Eco-driving; torque; power engine; fuel consumption.
