Abstract

AREVALO VELEZ, Verónica. Threats to contemporary public school infrastructure in Ecuador in the face of calamities. Case: Millennium Educational Units. RCTU [online]. 2020, vol.7, n.2, pp.64-73. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v7i2.539.

The purpose of this document is to reflect on possible turns that could be proposed in the postpandemic of contemporary public school buildings in Ecuador based on the investigation of the case study of the Millennium Educational Units (UEM), considering that these were a government commitment that it invested in the field of education as one of the relevant points, underlining the need for both boys and girls to have equal access to primary and secondary education sections; With the materialization of new infrastructure, the level of schooling would be improved and the educational level coverage of places deprived of this training would be expanded. However, with unexpected events such as COVID-19 and earthquakes that occurred in the country, paradigms are broken; questioning what post-pandemic mutations could be imagined in these novel buildings and what adaptations they would suggest, which would possibly imply analyzing new variables, possibly being adapted to a reconfiguration of the school.
