Abstract

SUAREZ-MATAMOROS, Verónica  and  CEDILLO-FAJARDO, Miguel. Acceptance of the e-Government among Employees of a Municipality in Ecuador. RCTU [online]. 2019, vol.6, n.2, pp.91-99. ISSN 1390-7697.  https://doi.org/10.26423/rctu.v6i2.497.

The purpose of this research was to adapt the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to predict the acceptance and use of e-government among municipal employees in Ecuador. The study in its epistemology started from the empirical-inductive, based on observation. From the literatura review, the model was adapted to Ecuador with a questionnaire with 20 items on Likert scales. The instrument was applied to 80 employees of the different departments of a municipality in Ecuador, of which 67 responded, of these 5 they did not answer it in a 100%; Therefore, 62 observations were considered for the analysis, due to the technique applied the sample is considered valid. Validity and reliability tests of the structural partial least squares equation model (PLS) were carried out, with the support of the SmartPLS statistical software. The results show that one hypothesis of TAM is not observed in the Ecuadorian context and that the main contribution was to identify that the perceived utility (PU) is the relevant factor to predict the trust of e-government among municipal employees in Ecuador. A limitation of this study may be that it was applied research in a one municipality.
