Abstract
MARCELO, Rodríguez Valdivia,. Kinetics and Adsorption Mechanisms of Lead (II) Using Gis-NaP Zeolite Obtained from Brick Waste. Rev Politéc. (Quito) [online]. 2022, vol.50, n.2, pp.63-70. ISSN 2477-8990.
This article reports the results of an investigation carried out to evaluate the kinetics and adsorption mechanisms of Pb2+, of a synthetic zeolite of the Gis-NaP type that was obtained from brick residues and that was characterized by various analysis techniques. Treatment of the experimental results showed that the pseudo-first order model (R2 = 0,9983) better describes the adsorption kinetics. The Pb2 + adsorption mechanism is better explained by the Freundlich isotherm which shows perfect fit (R2 = 0,980). With a contact time of 8 hours, the saturation of the zeolitic material is achieved, reaching an adsorption of 109,8 mg/g of Pb2+. The maximum adsorption capacity 124,4 mg/g (95,1%) was obtained for an initial concentration of 872,0 mg/L. According to the results obtained, it is concluded that the Gis-NaP zeolite has a high removal efficiency of Pb2+ and that it can be applied in the treatment of mining and / or industrial effluents.
