El objetivo de la presente investigación fue describir la calidad de vida percibida en estudiantes matriculados en la carrera de Odontología de la Universidad Central del Ecuador, durante el segundo período académico de 2020. Se desarrolló un estudio cuantitativo con diseño no experimental de alcance descriptivo, en el que participaron 741 alumnos universitarios mayores de edad y aparentemente sanos del contexto investigado. El instrumento aplicado fue la Escala de Calidad de Vida de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, en su versión breve (WHOQOL-BREF). El 54,66% de la población tenían edades entre 18 y 27 años, 541 (73,01%) eran mujeres y 96,36% tenían estado civil soltero. Se observó un predominio del nivel normal en las variables autopercepción de la calidad de vida (40,89%) y satisfacción con la salud (37,38%); mientras que, el nivel medio lo hizo en las dimensiones referidas a bienestar y la calidad de vida, cuyas frecuencias oscilaron entre el 34,28% y 47,37%. Se estableció una asociación entre la edad y el bienestar físico; así como, el sexo lo hizo con respecto a la calidad de vida, la satisfacción con la salud, satisfacción bienestar físico, satisfacción bienestar psicológico y la calidad de vida

This research aimed to describe the perceived quality of life in students enrolled in the Dentistry program at the Central University of Ecuador during the second academic period of 2020. A quantitative study was developed with a non-experimental design of descriptive scope, in which 741 university students of legal age and healthy from the investigated context participated. The instrument applied was the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale in its brief version (WHOQOL-BREF). 54.66% of the population were between 18 and 27 years old, 541 (73.01%) were women, and 96.36% were single. A predominance of the normal level was observed in the variables self-perception of quality of life (40.89%) and satisfaction with health (37.38%), while the average level was in the dimensions referring to well-being and quality of life, whose frequencies ranged between 34.28% and 47.37%. An association was established between age and physical well-being; As well as, sex did so concerning quality of life, satisfaction with health, physical well-being satisfaction, psychological well-being satisfaction, and quality of life.
