FREIRE-SANCHEZ, Luis    COELLO-GAVILANES, Magali. Wireless environmental thermal monitoring in crops. []. , 5, 2, pp.76-89.   05--2022. ISSN 2631-2654.  https://doi.org/10.37135/ns.01.10.05.

A meteorological monitoring system was developed to alert the presence of extreme temperatures that may cause damage to crops due to thermal stress. The design and construction is made up of two modules: the first is installed in the crop and contains a DS18B20 probe that captures instantaneous temperature samples within a radius of 100 meters with a resolution of ±0.3°C and periodicity of 20 seconds, it also incorporates a statistical algorithm to validate each measurement before transmitting it wirelessly to the second module installed in the farmer's home, which incorporates a menu of options on a 3.2-inch touch screen that allows setting thermal limits according to the type of crop, then the system evaluates the data and activates an audible alarm when it detects the approach of a stress temperature. The results show reliable communication within a radius of 19 km, with the capacity to support historical data for 200 years, making it a source of information for future studies. Furthermore, the prototype demonstrated a high degree of reliability and usefulness by farmers in the province of Chimborazo in Ecuador.
