The objective of the research was to propose a methodological route in the application of digital competences in the visual learning of Chemistry in high school students of the Juan Montalvo Fiscomisional Educational Unit, of the Manta Canton in Ecuador, in the 2022-2023 school period. The responsible use of technologies and the effective ability to understand, elaborate and share diagrams and graphs is presented as a limitation in visual learning in the Chemistry subject. The quantitative approach was used in conjunction with field research in the methodology of this research. The inductive method and the bibliographic review were used. A survey and a metacognitive test were applied as research instruments in students of the third year of the unified general high school. The results indicated that the students who used ICTs, based on a methodological route with a focus on digital competences, and the visual learning style, improved their academic performance in the short term. Finally, it was concluded that the training in digital competences, and its interrelation with visual learning, promoted a better understanding between theory, experimentation and formulation in the Chemistry subject.
