Resumen Los conocimientos ancestrales medicinales son un conjunto de saberes que, mediante prácticas legendarias, intentan equilibrar los elementos del universo para alcanzar el bienestar del ser humano. Actualmente el turismo de salud, impulsado por las nuevas motivaciones turísticas, exhorta a crear espacios donde el turista se sienta identificado y pueda satisfacer sus necesidades en torno a la armonía mental, física y espiritual. El cantón Colta, de la provincia de Chimborazo, conocido como cuna de la nacionalidad Puruhá, es un remanente no solo de recursos naturales y culturales sino también de patrimonio cultural inmaterial arraigado en la memoria histórica como símbolo de identidad. El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar la influencia de los conocimientos ancestrales medicinales en el turismo de salud del sector, visualizada como una estrategia de progreso turístico. La investigación es mixta, descriptivo y correlacional, que, entre otros resultados, permitió conocer que en promedio el 73% de las personas vinculadas a la medicina ancestral, concuerdan que sus conocimientos constituirían una alternativa de desarrollo siendo el 77% básicamente conocedores del servicio de curación y sanación inmediata. Por su parte, el 75% de turistas que visitan en cantón Colta indican su interés por realizar de manera conjunta actividades relacionadas al turismo de salud y turísticas y donde un 65% se motivaría principalmente por alcanzar su bienestar espiritual. Con un valor estadístico de chi cuadrado de 0.000 se pudo afirmar la influencia de los conocimientos ancestrales medicinales en el turismo de salud, lo que permite fundamentar y sirve de base para futuros proyectos turísticos innovadores y responsables.

The ancestral medicinal knowledge is a set of knowledge that, through legendary practices, tries to balance the elements of the universe to achieve the well-being of the human being. Currently, health tourism, driven by new tourist motivations, calls for creating spaces where tourists feel identified and can satisfy their needs around mental, physical and spiritual harmony. The Colta canton, Chimborazo province, known as the cradle of the Puruhá nationality, is a remnant not only of natural and cultural resources but also of intangible cultural heritage rooted in historical memory as a symbol of identity. The objective of this article is to analyze the influence of ancestral medicinal knowledge on health tourism in the sector, viewed as a strategy for tourism progress. The research is mixed, descriptive and correlational, which, among other results, allowed to know that on average 73% of people linked to ancestral medicine, agree that their knowledge would constitute an alternative for development, with 77% basically knowing the service of immediate healing and healing. On the other hand, 75% of tourists who visit the Colta canton indicate their interest in jointly carrying out activities related to health and tourist tourism and where 65% would be motivated mainly to achieve their spiritual well-being. With a statistical chi-square value of 0.000, it was possible to affirm the influence of ancestral medicinal knowledge in health tourism, which provides a foundation and serves as the basis for future innovative and responsible tourism projects.
