Resumen La labor de un orientador vocacional es acompañar la elección profesional proporcionando al estudiante una asesoría eficiente y a tiempo. Sin embargo, las instituciones públicas venezolanas carecen de recursos humanos y materiales para lograrlo. Este trabajo consistió en indagar las necesidades formación en orientación vocacional en un plantel de educación media, para posteriormente presentar una propuesta de recurso web que atendiera dicha situación. La muestra fue de 215 estudiantes seleccionados por muestreo intencional. A través de instrumentos se diagnosticaron las necesidades de asesoría, el tipo de información pertinente y los elementos indispensables para el estudiantado, y se evidencia que el 79% no tenía definido que haría al egresar de la secundaria. Finalmente se desarrolló y validó un recurso web y resultó ser una herramienta adecuada y apropiada para cada uno de los niveles de educación media a los que está dirigida. Esta experiencia constituye un aporte a la educación media de singular importancia, pues va más allá de la selección de una universidad, al considerar opciones relacionadas con el aprendizaje de oficios u ocupaciones, la búsqueda de empleo y la toma de decisiones personales que tendrán un significado para el futuro de estos jóvenes.

Abstract The work of a vocational counselor is to accompany this choice by providing the student with an efficient and timely advice. However, Venezuelan public institutions lack the human and material resources to achieve it. This work consisted of investigating the vocational guidance training needs in a middle school campus, to later submit a web resource proposal to address this situation. The sample was 215 students selected by intentional sampling. The counseling needs, the type of pertinent information and the indispensable elements for the student body were diagnosed through instruments, and it is evident that 79% had not defined what they would do when leaving high school. Finally, a web resource was developed and validated and proved to be an adequate and appropriate tool for each of the levels of secondary education to which it is addressed. This experience constitutes a contribution of singular importance to the secondary education, since it represents more than choosing a university, when considering options related to the learning of trades and occupations, the search of employment and the making of personal decisions that will have a meaning for the future of these young people.
