Technological evolution has radically transformed the job landscape by creating a growing need for cognitive skills compared to traditional physical skills. This change has stimulated societal interest in understanding and addressing the implications of this trend. The general objective of this article was to analyze the regulatory models and norms proposed in the academic literature for the assessment of mental work in the work context. For this, the systematic review methodology was used through search engines specialized in academic literature. The VOSviewer software was used as tools for a bibliometric analysis and graphic representation of the information collected, as well as the EndNote bibliographic manager. It was shown that the NASA-TLX model is the most used by researchers, considering the number of studies that exist in this regard, and the demonstrated validity; and that the Official Mexican Standard NOM-035-STPS-2018, is the most recent of those approved in relation to the subject. Said norm contributes to prevent and carry out actions to control psychosocial risk factors, serving as a tool to identify and prevent psychosocial risk factors and evaluate the work environment.
