El género documental audiovisual, como herramienta de producción, promueve la conversión de historias, hechos o realidades contextuales en una versión de imágenes y sonidos que se convierten en elementos aplicativos visuales del mensaje, captando el interés ciudadano y proveyendo para el acervo social historias en tiempos resumidos. En este contexto el presente estudio tiene como objetivo realizar la producción de un documental audiovisual sobre el Papi García, una historia, que a finales de los años 50 conmovió a la sociedad de la época, por su connotación en extremo trágica. Una historia que se recuenta y se refresca en las voces de quienes estuvieron cerca, fueron testigos y de historiadores que investigaron los matices circunstanciales socio-políticos y militares que envolvieron el suceso en aquella época. Las metodologías utilizadas fueron: la entrevista directa a familiares cercanos y amigos, quienes ofrecieron su versión testimonial respecto a los hechos, así como también, el aporte investigativo de historiadores que generaron vitalidad a los giros que desencadena la historia. Desde esta perspectiva, el resultado alcanzado fue la producción de un documental audiovisual que refleja la historia de un personaje emblemático de la ciudad de Portoviejo-Manabí-Ecuador.

Scientists have also consulted through the testimonial information regarding the facts, as well as the investigative report of historians that generate vitality to the twists that the story unleashes. From this perspective, the result achieved was the production of an audiovisual documentary that reflects the history of an emblematic figure from the city of Portoviejo-Manabí-Ecuador.
